The University of Guam (UOG) is set to receive a much-needed financial boost following the Guam Legislature’s approval of Bill 58-38 (COR) , a measure introduced by Senator Vincent Anthony Borja. The bill appropriates $5.75 million from excess Fiscal Year 2025 General Fund revenues to support critical university needs.
With bipartisan support, the measure aims to cover essential repairs, ongoing operations, campus maintenance, capital improvement projects, and accreditation-related priorities—all without increasing tuition for students.
UOG has been grappling with financial challenges stemming from a previous budget shortfall, which jeopardized faculty and staff retention, delayed vital infrastructure projects, and threatened the advancement of key academic programs.
The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk for final approval. Senator Borja is urging swift action to prevent further financial strain on the island’s only public university.
