University of Guam now recognized as a Research College and University

The University of Guam (UOG) is being acknowledged for their high research activity. The 2025 Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education designated the institution a Research College and University.

This places UOG amongst 216 other institutions across the U.S. with significant research activity.

The university has continuously produced groundbreaking work from Marine and Environmental research to Micronesian history and culture. UOG manages over 170 federal research grants and supports 224 full and part-time positions and has contributed $10 million in salaries and benefits to the local economy. They have also reported $22.4 million in research expenditures for fiscal 2023.

This milestone continues to affirm UOG’s stature in advancing research within Micronesia and the Pacific.

The university’s president Anita Borja Enriquez shares that moving forward, UOG remains focused on furthering their ability to provide valuable education that serves the community.
